When is the business eligible to get the title of MSME?

The earlier criteria for MSME registration depend on the investment done for machinery and the types of equipment that will be used for operations. It means:

• Manufacturing business must have an investment of more than 25L
• Service-based businesses must have an investment of more than 10L

But after the introduction of Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, the MSME classification’s eligibility criteria depend on investment as well as turnover. So every business that has an investment of more than 1Cr. and turnover of more than 5Cr.

What is the online process of  MSME registration?

It can be performed through the portal of udyamregistration.gov.in. There are two cases for the same:

Case 1: New Entrepreneurs who haven’t registered and who hold an EM-II

• Click on the “For New Entrepreneurs who are not Registered yet as MSME or those with EM-II” button that is visible on the homepage.
• Enter Aadhaar card number and PAN number
• Validate the above details with OTP
• Provide the type of organization and other details of the business and its owners. It may include categorization of MSME, social category, name of the plants/units (with location), turnover of the business, and personal information of the business owner.
• Once you have filed the form, click on the “Submit and Get Final OTP” button. After providing the OTP, your process of registration will be finished, and you will get a reference number. After the verification of your details, the Udyam registration certificate.

Case 2: Business owners who are UAM registration

• Simply click the button “For those having registration as UAM” or “For those already having registration as UAM through Assisted filing” that is displayed on the homepage of the portal.
• Provide Udyog Aadhaar Number and OTP option
• Once your Udyog Aadhaar Number is validated, you need to provide registration details to complete the registration form. These details will be similar to the details that were mentioned in Case 1.
